COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering program is structured as a 160-credit-point postgraduate degree designed to develop advanced technical expertise, professional engineering capability, and industry readiness. The core component consists of 60 credit points and includes essential subjects such as Specialised Software Applications, Sustainable Systems, and Engineering Project 1 (PG). This core also incorporates a mandatory 12-week industrial experience training program, which is a requirement for Engineers Australia accreditation and ensures students gain practical, real-world engineering exposure. The discipline-specific Master of Engineering component contributes 70 credit points, allowing students to deepen their expertise in specialised engineering areas through advanced study and project-based learning. The alternate subjects also account for 70 credit points and provide flexibility for students to select advanced engineering topics aligned with their career interests. These include subjects such as Advanced Control Systems, Advanced Electrical Machines and Drives, Advanced Power Quality, Advanced Signal Processing, Smart Grids and Distributed Generation, Instrumentation and Measurement, and Power System Planning and Economics, along with Engineering Project 2 (PG) and Industrial Experience (PG). In addition, students must complete 30 credit points of level 7 elective subjects, allowing further customization of their learning pathway. Overall, this structure ensures graduates develop strong theoretical foundations, practical engineering experience, and specialised technical skills required for professional engineering roles in industry.
