COURSE CURRICULUM

The Tourism, Hospitality and Events program at Western Sydney University is a 240 credit point degree structured to provide students with a strong foundation in industry knowledge, practical experience, and flexible study options. The program includes a 130 credit point core component that introduces key concepts in tourism systems, hospitality operations, event management, destination development, sustainability, and industry practices. These core subjects are designed to build essential professional skills such as communication, service management, planning, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring students develop a comprehensive understanding of the tourism and events sector. In addition, students complete 40 credit points of alternate subjects, which allow them to specialise in selected areas such as event and festival management, marketing, place management, sport, heritage, or sustainability, depending on their interests and career goals. A 10 credit point program pool subject component provides further targeted learning opportunities that may focus on industry-relevant topics or emerging trends in tourism and hospitality. The degree also includes a 60 credit point elective space, giving students flexibility to broaden their studies across other disciplines or deepen expertise within the field.
