COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Social Science and Bachelor of Laws (Honours) double degree is a 400 credit point program that combines a strong foundation in social science with a comprehensive legal education. The social science core (80 credit points) introduces students to key approaches in understanding society, including social theory, research methods, cultural analysis, and the study of contemporary social issues such as inequality, globalisation, and social change. The law component (190 credit points) provides structured training in core legal disciplines such as criminal law, contracts, torts, constitutional law, administrative law, equity and trusts, property law, legal ethics, dispute resolution, and legal research. This develops strong analytical thinking, legal reasoning, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with a clear understanding of the relationship between law and society. The program also includes an 80 credit point major in a chosen social science discipline, allowing students to specialise in areas such as sociology, criminology, international relations, or related fields. In addition, 50 credit points of LLB alternate subjects enable further customisation through electives in areas such as human rights law, corporate law, environmental law, or clinical legal practice. Overall, the program provides interdisciplinary training that prepares graduates for careers in law, public policy, social research, government, and community-focused professions.
