COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Social Science and Bachelor of Laws double degree is structured over 400 credit points and combines interdisciplinary social science training with a comprehensive legal education. The social science component introduces foundational knowledge in understanding human society, culture, and contemporary social issues, while the social science major allows students to specialise in an area of interest such as sociology, criminology, international relations, or related disciplines. The law component provides a structured progression through core legal subjects including foundational principles, criminal law, contracts, torts, constitutional law, administrative law, equity and trusts, and legal procedure. These subjects are designed to develop strong analytical, critical thinking, research, and problem-solving skills, along with an understanding of the relationship between law and society. The program also includes alternate law subjects, allowing students to tailor their studies toward specific legal interests such as human rights, corporate law, environmental law, or clinical legal practice. Across both degrees, students develop practical competencies through case-based learning, collaborative projects, and authentic assessment tasks that reflect real-world legal and social challenges. The structure supports flexibility, enabling students to align their studies with career goals in law, public policy, social research, government, or community services, while also meeting requirements for admission to legal practice in Australia.
