COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) is a 340 credit point program structured entirely as a core curriculum designed to develop highly competent, evidence-based physiotherapy graduates. The program begins with foundational health science subjects that build essential knowledge of the human body and health systems, including Human Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2 (NATS1009, NATS1010), Functional Anatomy (NATS1022), Pathophysiology, Neuroanatomy (NATS3037), and Clinical Pharmacology (NATS2008). Alongside these sciences, students develop communication and professional capabilities through subjects such as Communication in Health, Professional Competencies in Health, and Psychology and Health, ensuring strong interpersonal and ethical practice skills. As students progress, they undertake core physiotherapy practice units including Introduction to Physiotherapy Practice, Core Competencies in Physiotherapy Practice, Exercise Rehabilitation, and specialised areas such as Musculoskeletal, Neurological, and Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy. These subjects are closely integrated with extensive clinical education placements across acute care, rehabilitation, ambulatory care, and paediatric settings, allowing students to apply theoretical learning in real healthcare environments. Research and evidence-based practice are embedded throughout the degree, with units in Research Methods in Health and Evidence in Professional Reasoning supporting critical thinking and clinical decision-making. The Honours component is completed through dedicated research subjects (REHA4031 and REHA4032), where students design and undertake supervised research projects addressing real physiotherapy problems. Overall, the structure combines biomedical science, clinical training, and research development to produce skilled, reflective, and professionally ready physiotherapists.
