COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Physiotherapy is a 320 credit point program structured entirely as a core curriculum designed to provide students with comprehensive training in health sciences, clinical practice, and evidence-based physiotherapy. The program begins with foundational subjects such as Population Health and Society, Human Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2, Functional Anatomy, Psychology and Health, Communication in Health, Evidence in Health, and Professional Competencies in Health. These early units build essential knowledge of human biology, health systems, communication, and professional practice required for safe and effective healthcare delivery. As students progress, they undertake more advanced biomedical and clinical subjects including Biomechanics, Pathophysiology, Neuroanatomy, Clinical Pharmacology, and Research Methods in Health, which strengthen their understanding of disease processes and human movement. The core physiotherapy practice stream includes subjects such as Introduction to Physiotherapy Practice, Core Competencies in Physiotherapy Practice, Exercise Rehabilitation, Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy A and B, Neurological Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, and Cardiorespiratory Physiotherapy. These are integrated with extensive clinical education placements across general, acute care, rehabilitation, ambulatory care, and paediatric settings, allowing students to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world environments. In the later stages, students study specialised and advanced topics including Paediatric Physiotherapy, Physiotherapy for Chronic Illness and Disease, Complex Cases and Professional Issues, and Integrating Research into Physiotherapy Practice. Overall, the structure ensures a progressive development of scientific knowledge, clinical competence, and professional reasoning, preparing graduates for safe, ethical, and evidence-based physiotherapy practice across diverse healthcare settings.
