COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Nursing (Enrolled Nurse Pathway) is structured as a 230 credit point core program designed to develop students into safe, competent, and professional registered nurses. The core subjects provide a progressive learning pathway that integrates theory with extensive clinical practice. Students begin with foundational units such as NURS1022 Becoming a Professional Nurse, NURS1023 Bioscience 1, NURS1001 Approaches to Professional Nursing Practice, and NURS1025 Person-centred Care Across the Lifespan, which build essential knowledge in nursing practice, human biology, and patient-centred care. Clinical experience starts early through Professional Practice Experience units (NURS1020, NURS1021, NURS2028, NURS2029, NURS3032, and NURS3039), allowing students to apply learning in real healthcare settings. As the course progresses, students study advanced areas including pharmacology (NURS2040), evidence-based practice (NURS2036), mental health (NURS2041), and health variations across conditions such as chronic illness, acute care, and palliative care (NURS2037, NURS2038, NURS2016, NURS3015, NURS3017). Cultural safety and Indigenous health are also emphasised through NURS3041 Indigenous Australian Health, Wellness and Culture, ensuring graduates can provide inclusive and respectful care. The program also includes specialised electives such as mental health assessment or maternal and child health subjects, along with requirements for placement currency if needed. Overall, the structure combines academic study, clinical placements, and professional development to prepare graduates for registration as Division 1 Registered Nurses in Australia.
