COURSE CURRICULUM

This Bachelor of Medical Science program is structured as a 240 credit point degree designed to provide students with a strong scientific foundation and specialised knowledge in a chosen area of medical science. The Core component consists of 30 credit points and includes introductory subjects that develop essential scientific principles, academic capabilities, and foundational laboratory skills necessary for further study in health and biomedical sciences. The Testamur Major forms the main component of the program with 130 credit points and allows students to specialise in a focused discipline such as Biomedical Science, Human Nutrition, or Anatomy and Physiology. Through the major, students gain in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge relating to human health, disease processes, biological systems, nutrition, or body structure and function, depending on their chosen pathway. The major also includes laboratory-based learning and research activities that strengthen analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills relevant to scientific and healthcare environments. In addition, the program includes 80 credit points of Elective Space, enabling students to broaden their studies by selecting subjects from related scientific disciplines or other approved areas aligned with their interests and career goals. Overall, the structure balances foundational science education, specialised professional knowledge, and flexible elective study to prepare graduates for careers in biomedical research, pathology, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, nutrition, and further postgraduate study in medicine or allied health fields.
