COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Information Systems is a 240-credit-point program designed to develop students’ expertise in integrating information technology with business environments to support digital transformation and organisational decision-making. The course includes 160 credit points of core subjects that provide a strong foundation in programming fundamentals, database design, computer networking, systems analysis and design, digital transformation, cybersecurity, human-computer interaction, and enterprise architecture. Students also study business analytics, accounting in context, professional practice, communication, ethics, and project management, ensuring they develop both technical competence and business understanding. Advanced units in systems development methodologies, emerging trends in information systems, social computing, and systems thinking further prepare students for complex, real-world digital challenges. A professional experience subject also provides industry exposure and practical application of skills. The program includes 80 credit points of electives, which can be used to broaden knowledge or complete a major or minor in specialised areas. Suggested majors include Business Analytics, Cybersecurity Management, Health Informatics, Infonomics, Network Management, and User Experience. Suggested minors include Cloud Computing, Networking, Mobile Computing, Entertainment Computing, and Health Informatics. This flexible structure allows students to tailor their studies to their career interests while preparing for diverse roles in IT consulting, systems analysis, cybersecurity, data analytics, and digital transformation leadership.
