COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Health Science is a 240-credit-point program designed to provide students with foundational knowledge in health sciences while allowing flexibility to specialise in areas aligned with their career interests. The course includes 80 credit points of core subjects covering population health, communication in health, psychology and health, culture and diversity, evidence-based practice, professional competencies, and human development across the lifespan. These subjects help students develop an understanding of contemporary health issues, healthcare systems, and the social factors influencing health and wellbeing. Students must also complete a testamur major in one of five areas: Clinical Sciences, Health Promotion, Health Services Management, Public Health, or Recreational Therapy. Each major provides specialised knowledge and skills for professional practice or further study, with Recreational Therapy requiring additional credit points due to its extended focus. The program also includes elective space that allows students to broaden their learning through a second major, minors, or elective subjects. Recommended minors include Environmental Health, Exercise Science, Health Informatics, Infectious Diseases, Physical Activity and Health, Health Practice Management, and Sport Development. This flexible structure enables students to tailor their education, build interdisciplinary expertise, and prepare for diverse careers within the expanding health and community services sectors.
