COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) at Western Sydney University is a 320-credit-point program designed to provide students with strong foundations in engineering principles, applied science, and professional practice. The program begins with a 60-credit-point core that builds essential knowledge in engineering computing, engineering physics, engineering practice, mechanics, materials engineering, and electrical fundamentals. It also includes Industrial Experience in Engineering, ensuring students gain early exposure to real-world engineering environments. Students complete mathematics subjects such as Mathematics for Engineers Preliminary, Mathematics 1, and Mathematics 2, depending on their academic readiness, which strengthens analytical and problem-solving skills. A major component of the degree is the 200-credit-point testamur major, where students specialise in a chosen field such as Advanced Manufacturing, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Robotics and Mechatronics, or Sustainability Engineering. This allows students to develop deep technical expertise in their selected discipline. In addition, the program includes 40 credit points of electives, which may be used to complete minors in related areas such as Automation, Biomedical Engineering, Construction Economics, Geotechnical Engineering, Sustainability Engineering, or Structures. Overall, the program integrates theory, practical learning, and industry experience to prepare graduates for professional engineering careers across diverse technical and industrial sectors.
