COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) at Western Sydney University is a 320-credit-point program structured to develop strong technical knowledge, analytical ability, and professional engineering skills. The degree begins with a 60-credit-point core that introduces essential engineering foundations, including engineering computing, physics, engineering practice, mechanics, materials engineering, and electrical fundamentals. Students also complete industrial experience in engineering, which provides early exposure to real-world engineering environments and professional practice. The program includes 20 credit points of alternate subjects, which primarily support mathematical readiness and progression through subjects such as Mathematics for Engineers Preliminary, Mathematics 1, and Mathematics 2, depending on the student’s background. A major component of the degree is the 200-credit-point testamur major, where students specialise in a chosen engineering discipline such as Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Construction, Advanced Manufacturing, Materials, Robotics and Mechatronics, or Sustainability Engineering. This allows for in-depth technical expertise aligned with industry needs. The final component is 40 credit points of electives, which enable students to broaden their knowledge or pursue minors in related areas like automation, geotechnical engineering, structures, sustainability, or biomedical engineering. Overall, the program combines theory, mathematics, practical training, and industry exposure to prepare graduates for professional engineering careers across diverse sectors.
