COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Cyber Security and Behaviour at Western Sydney University is a 240-credit-point program designed to integrate technical cyber security knowledge with behavioural science and digital risk understanding. The core component consists of 200 credit points and includes a structured sequence of subjects covering programming, networking, data analysis, and cyber security systems. Students begin with foundational units such as Programming Fundamentals, Digital Transformation, Computer Networking, and Analytics Programming, which build essential technical skills. The program then advances into specialised areas including Cyber Crime and Social Engineering, Cyber Security, Usable Security, Cyber Incident Response and Risk Management, Ethical Hacking Principles and Practice, and Digital Investigations and Forensics. A distinctive feature of the degree is its focus on human behaviour in digital environments through subjects like Cyber Behaviour, Digital Identities, Psychology and the Online World, and Usable Design, helping students understand the psychological and social aspects of cyber threats. The course also includes practical industry engagement through Cyber Security and Behaviour Community Placement and Industry Placement, providing real-world experience. The remaining 40 credit points are allocated to electives, allowing students to broaden their knowledge or pursue additional interests. Overall, the program prepares graduates for careers in cybersecurity, digital forensics, risk analysis, and cybercrime prevention.
