COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Criminology combined with the Bachelor of Laws is a 400-credit-point double degree designed to integrate the study of crime, society, and legal systems, preparing graduates for careers in justice, law, and policy. The program includes 320 credit points of core subjects that build a strong foundation in both criminology and law. The criminology component explores crime, deviance, victimisation, youth justice, prisons and punishment, crime prevention, gender and crime, crime media and culture, drugs and crime, mental health in the community, Indigenous perspectives on criminal justice, and social inequality in the justice system. These subjects develop a deep understanding of the social causes and impacts of crime. The law component includes key legal studies such as Fundamentals of Australian Law, Criminal Law, Contracts, Torts, Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Equity and Trusts, Property Law, and Civil and Criminal Procedure, along with ethics and dispute resolution. Students also develop skills in legal reasoning, research, advocacy, and professional responsibility. In addition, the program includes 80 credit points of LLB alternate subjects, allowing specialisation in areas such as human rights law, criminal justice law, family law, environmental law, and legal clinics or internships. This structure prepares graduates for multidisciplinary careers in law, criminology, corrections, and public policy.
