COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Criminal and Community Justice combined with the Bachelor of Laws is a 400-credit-point program designed to integrate criminology, justice studies, and professional legal education. The structure includes 320 credit points of core subjects that build foundational and advanced knowledge across criminal justice, law, sociology, psychology, and community practice. Students study key law units such as Fundamentals of Australian Law, Criminal Law, Contracts, Torts, Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Equity and Trusts, and Legal Ethics, developing strong analytical, reasoning, and professional legal skills. Alongside these, criminology and justice-focused subjects explore areas such as crime and deviance, prisons and punishment, youth justice, mental health in the community, offender rehabilitation, and community-based intervention strategies. The program also develops research, communication, and problem-solving skills through applied social research and justice solution design. In addition, students complete 80 credit points of LLB alternate subjects, allowing them to specialise in areas such as human rights law, criminal procedure, family law, corporate law, environmental law, and legal clinics or internships. This flexible component enables students to tailor their legal education to specific interests and career goals. Overall, the degree structure prepares graduates for multidisciplinary careers in law, corrections, policy development, and justice services, combining theoretical knowledge with practical, real-world application.
