COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Criminal and Community Justice at Western Sydney University is a 240-credit-point program designed to provide students with a strong foundation in criminology, criminal justice, and human services practice. The core component consists of 190 credit points and includes a structured sequence of subjects that build knowledge progressively across key areas such as crime, society, law, and community wellbeing. Students begin with foundational subjects like The Individual in Society, Understanding Society, Introduction to Criminal Justice, and Crime, Deviance and Society, which introduce key social science concepts. The curriculum also includes Indigenous perspectives, human rights, and social difference, ensuring a broad understanding of justice in diverse contexts. As students advance, they study more specialised areas such as Youth Justice and Practice, Prisons, Punishment and Criminal Justice, Mental Health in the Community, Ethics in the Social Sciences, and Perspectives in Criminology. Applied subjects such as Assessment and Treatment of Offenders, Managing Offenders in the Community, and Creating Criminal Justice Solutions provide practical, real-world skills for working in justice and welfare settings.
