COURSE CURRICULUM

The Construction Technology program at Western Sydney University is a 240-credit-point degree designed to equip students with strong technical, managerial, and practical skills required in the construction and building industry. The core component consists of 200 credit points and covers a comprehensive range of subjects that reflect the full lifecycle of construction projects. Students begin with foundational areas such as Residential Building, Drawing and CAD, Construction Work Safety, Building Science, and Environmental Building Design, which provide essential technical knowledge. As they progress, they study advanced topics including Non-Residential Building, Civil and Substructure, Building Measurement, Building Estimates and Tendering, Construction Scheduling, and Construction Project Management. The program also integrates important professional areas such as Contract Administration, Building Regulations Studies, Construction Communication, Negotiation in the Built Environment, Accounting Information for Managers, and Building Law, ensuring students understand both technical and legal aspects of construction practice. The remaining 40 credit points are allocated to elective study, allowing students to complete a minor such as Construction Economics or choose additional electives to broaden their expertise. Overall, the program prepares graduates for careers in construction management, site supervision, estimating, project coordination, and other roles within the building and infrastructure sector, combining technical knowledge with industry-relevant professional skills.
