COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) at Western Sydney University is a 320-credit-point program that combines technical construction knowledge with project management and industry experience. The core component consists of 220 credit points covering key areas such as Residential and Non-Residential Building, Drawing and CAD, Construction Communication, Construction Work Safety, Building Science, Environmental Building Design, Civil and Substructure, Building Measurement, Building Estimates and Tendering, Construction Scheduling, Construction Economics, Construction Project Management, and Building Law. Students also complete advanced subjects including Residential Building Project, Construction Research Methods, Envelope and Services, and Complex Building Project, which strengthen practical and analytical skills required in professional construction environments. A major feature of the degree is the mandatory 1,200 hours of construction management-related industry experience, completed before the final year and recorded through Industry Based Learning. Students must also complete either a Construction Research Project or Construction Thesis as part of their advanced study. The program includes 80 credit points of elective space, allowing students to specialise through Testamur Majors in Building, Building Surveying, or Quantity Surveying, or pursue minors such as Business, Construction Economics, or Property. Overall, the program prepares graduates for leadership roles in construction management, project delivery, quantity surveying, and building consultancy.
