COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Computer Science at Western Sydney University is a 240-credit-point program designed to develop strong technical, analytical, and professional skills in computing and information systems. The core component consists of 160 credit points and covers essential areas of computer science such as programming, data structures, algorithms, computer networking, database design, operating systems, artificial intelligence, information security, cloud computing, and software engineering. Students begin with foundational subjects like Introduction to Programming and Computer Systems, Discrete Mathematics, and Professional Practice, Communication and Ethics, before progressing to advanced topics including Systems Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms, AI, and Information Security. The program also includes practical and industry-focused subjects such as Project Management and Professional Experience, ensuring students gain real-world exposure. The remaining 80 credit points provide flexibility, allowing students to specialise through a major, two minors, or a combination of a minor and electives.
