COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Communication and Bachelor of Laws double degree is a 400 credit point program that combines professional legal training with advanced communication studies to prepare graduates for diverse media, corporate, and legal careers. The communication component (80 credit points core plus 80 credit point major) provides students with foundational and specialised knowledge in media production, communication theory, storytelling, digital media, journalism, public relations, and audience engagement. It develops practical skills in creating media content, conducting research, and working effectively in team-based and industry-relevant environments, while also emphasising ethical communication, cultural awareness, and social responsibility. The law component (160 credit points) offers a structured legal education covering key areas such as criminal law, torts, contracts, constitutional law, administrative law, equity and trusts, property law, legal ethics, dispute resolution, and legal procedure. This equips students with strong analytical thinking, legal reasoning, and problem-solving abilities, alongside professional skills in advocacy, negotiation, and legal research. The program also includes 80 credit points of law electives, allowing students to specialise in areas such as media law, human rights, corporate law, or technology law. Overall, the degree integrates creativity and analytical expertise, enabling graduates to pursue careers in law, journalism, public relations, media industries, government, and policy, with strong adaptability across both sectors.
