COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Clinical Science (Medicine)/Doctor of Medicine program is structured around an integrated series of core medical subjects that progressively develop students’ scientific knowledge, clinical competence, and professional skills. The curriculum begins with MEDI1004 Clinical Sciences 1 and MEDI2003 Clinical Sciences 2, where students build foundational understanding of biomedical sciences, human body systems, health, disease, and patient care while beginning early clinical exposure in hospital and community settings. As students progress into the advanced stages of the degree, MEDI3006 Applied Clinical Sciences 1 focuses on applying scientific knowledge to clinical scenarios and developing practical diagnostic and communication skills. The later subjects, MEDI7063 Applied Clinical Sciences 2 and MEDI7064 Applied Clinical Sciences 3, expand clinical training through intensive hospital and community placements, enabling students to gain experience across different medical specialties and healthcare environments. MEDI7065 Medicine in Practice further develops professional readiness by emphasising real-world clinical decision-making, patient management, teamwork, ethics, and evidence-based medical practice. In addition to the core medical curriculum, the structure also includes opportunities for students to pursue a major, minor, concentration, or electives, allowing some flexibility to explore specific interests or research areas alongside the professional medical training. Overall, the structure integrates scientific theory, practical clinical learning, and professional development to prepare graduates for modern medical practice and specialist training pathways.
