COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Cyber Security at Victoria University consists of 288 credit points of core units delivered across three years, providing students with comprehensive knowledge in information technology, networking, and cyber security. In the first year, students build foundational skills in web development, programming, data science, computer networks, database systems, operating systems, and project management, while also gaining an introduction to cyber security concepts. The second year focuses on specialised and practical areas such as digital forensics, ethical hacking, network management, server operations, cyber law, data privacy, big data, and networking technologies. Students also develop user-focused design skills and learn about professional ethics and security policies. In the final year, the course advances into emerging technologies and advanced security practices, including AI-driven secure networking, vulnerability analysis, secure web application development, virtualisation, cyber security analytics, and smart network infrastructure. Students complete two capstone projects that allow them to apply their technical knowledge to real-world cyber security challenges. Overall, the course combines theoretical understanding with hands-on learning to prepare graduates for careers in cyber security, digital forensics, network security, software development, and information systems management in both Australian and international industries.
