COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Global Public Health at Victoria University requires students to complete 192 credit points comprising core studies, capstone units, and electives that build advanced public health knowledge and practical expertise. In the first year, students study foundational subjects such as Foundations of Public Health, Contemporary Global Health Challenges, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Contemporary Public Health Practice, Culture and Society in Public Health, and Health Promotion and Community Engagement. These units develop skills in analysing health data, understanding social and cultural influences on health, and designing evidence-based public health strategies. During the second year, students advance their expertise through Systems Thinking in Public Health, Public Health Program Management, Research Methods in Public Health, Sustainability in Healthcare, and Public Health Communication in a Digital World. Students also complete elective units in areas such as nutrition, humanitarian assistance, food security, gender issues, and active living to broaden their global health perspective. The program concludes with either a Professional Project or Minor Thesis, allowing students to apply research and analytical skills to real-world public health challenges. Graduates are well prepared for careers in health policy, health promotion, research, and international public health organisations.
