COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Education at Victoria University is a 192-credit-point postgraduate program that combines advanced educational theory, research, leadership, and applied practice. In the first year, students study core units that explore digital learning, curriculum design, pedagogy, innovation, positive education, Indigenous perspectives, educational policy, and research methods. Units such as Engaging Learners in Digital Environments, Critiquing Pedagogies, and Theory and Practice of Positive Education help students develop contemporary teaching and leadership skills suited to diverse educational settings. In the second year, students build further expertise through studies in assessment, advanced pedagogy, experiential learning, and educational leadership in complex societies. The course then offers four flexible completion pathways. Option A focuses on research through either a part-time or full-time minor thesis, allowing students to conduct in-depth academic investigation. Options B, C, and D combine a Capstone Research Investigation with community development and conflict resolution studies, enabling students to apply educational knowledge in broader social and community contexts. These pathways support professional growth in schools, universities, government agencies, community organisations, and industry environments. Overall, the program develops critical thinking, leadership, research, and practical problem-solving skills, preparing graduates to address contemporary educational challenges and contribute positively to learning communities and policy development.
