COURSE CURRICULUM

The Diploma of Information Technology at Victoria University is a 96-credit-point program designed to build strong foundational skills in computing and prepare students for further study in IT-related bachelor degrees. The course consists entirely of core units that provide a broad introduction to key areas of information technology. Students begin with Introduction to Programming, where they develop basic coding skills and problem-solving abilities, followed by Computer Networks, which covers how data is communicated across systems. Foundations of Web Development introduces the design and creation of websites, while Introduction to Data Science provides an entry-level understanding of data handling and analysis. The program also includes Introduction to Database Systems, where students learn how information is stored and managed efficiently, and Operating Systems, which explains how computer systems function and are controlled. In addition, students study Introduction to Project Management to understand how IT projects are planned and organised effectively. Cyber Security Essentials introduces fundamental concepts of protecting systems and data from threats.
