COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Sport Science (Human Movement) / Bachelor of Sport Management at Victoria University is a 384 credit point program that combines scientific knowledge of human movement with practical sport management skills. The course is structured into first year core units, sport science professional core units, sport management professional core units, and minor studies, giving students a strong interdisciplinary foundation. In the first year, students study essential subjects such as human physiology, exercise physiology, biomechanics, resistance training, structural kinesiology, sport psychology, marketing theory, financial literacy, and foundations of sport and recreation. These units build an understanding of both the scientific and organisational aspects of sport and fitness. In the sport science professional core, students progress to advanced areas including nutrition for exercise, motor learning, advanced exercise physiology, sport and social analysis, professional practice, and career development in exercise science. The sport management core focuses on leadership and industry practice through subjects such as sport facility management, ethics in sport management, sociology of sport, sport participation development, workplace readiness, sponsorships, and business events. Students also choose minors in areas such as health, fitness, coaching, nutrition, or entrepreneurship to specialise further. Overall, the program develops strong scientific, analytical, leadership, and management skills, preparing graduates for careers in sport science, fitness, rehabilitation, sport administration, and community sport development.
