COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Sport Science (Human Movement)/Bachelor of Psychological Studies at Victoria University is a four-year double degree comprising 384 credit points that integrates sport science, human movement, and psychology to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of physical performance and mental wellbeing. The course begins with foundational studies in structural kinesiology, resistance training, human physiology, sport psychology, and introductory psychology and research methods. As students progress, they develop advanced knowledge in biomechanics, exercise physiology, lifespan development, developmental psychology, and research methods for exercise professionals. The program also explores social and global perspectives on health, quantitative and qualitative social research, motor learning, nutrition, and clinical psychology. In the final year, students focus on career development, professional practice in sport science, applied exercise psychology, workplace psychology, and the social dimensions of sport and exercise while completing fieldwork experience to gain practical industry exposure. Students can further tailor their learning through psychology electives such as counselling theory, group behaviour, psychobiology, organisations and work, and relationship wellbeing. The curriculum combines theoretical knowledge with practical training in modern laboratories and professional environments, preparing graduates for careers in sport science, rehabilitation, community health, counselling support, and psychological services, while also creating pathways for postgraduate study in psychology or education.
