COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Sport Science at Victoria University is a 288-credit-point program designed to prepare students for professional careers in sport, exercise, and human movement industries. The course is structured into four key components: 96 credit points of First Year Core units, 48 credit points of Professional Core units, 96 credit points of Major studies, and 48 credit points of Minor studies. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in areas such as structural kinesiology, human physiology, biomechanics, exercise physiology, resistance training, human growth and development, Indigenous health and wellbeing, and research in exercise science. The Professional Core units deepen applied knowledge through subjects like nutrition for exercise, motor learning, career development, and professional practice in sport science. Students then specialise by selecting one of two majors: Sport Performance, focusing on improving athletic performance and participation, or Sport Coaching, which develops skills in athlete development, coaching strategies, and community sport engagement. To further tailor their studies, students choose minors such as fitness and conditioning, health and nutrition, human movement, diversity and inclusion, or sport and active communities. Overall, the program combines scientific theory, practical application, and professional training to equip graduates with the skills needed for careers in sport science, coaching, fitness, and health-related fields.
