COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Paramedicine is structured to develop strong clinical knowledge, practical skills, and professional capability for work in emergency and healthcare settings. In the first year, students build a foundation through core subjects such as anatomy and physiology, paramedic law, ethics and professionalism, cultural safety, pharmacology, evidence and research, and introductory clinical practice units. These subjects help students understand the human body, safe healthcare practice, and the ethical responsibilities of a paramedic. In the second year, learning becomes more applied and focused on real medical situations, including medical emergencies, trauma management, social epidemiology, and advanced clinical practice. Students also begin formal clinical placements where they gain supervised experience in real healthcare environments. In the third year, the program further develops advanced skills through subjects such as mental health and illness, health across the lifespan, interprofessional practice, and major incident management. Students also complete additional clinical practice units and extended placements to strengthen job readiness. Elective subjects and professional development units help build career planning and teamwork skills. Overall, the course combines theory, simulation training, and real-world placements to ensure graduates are fully prepared to work confidently as registered paramedics in fast-paced emergency and healthcare settings.
