COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Nursing program is structured over three years, with each semester designed to progressively build theoretical knowledge and clinical competence. In Year 1, students develop foundational understanding through units such as The Professional Nurse and Midwife, Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2, Foundations in Nursing 1 and 2, Indigenous Health and Wellbeing, and Primary Health Care Across the Lifespan, alongside their first professional experience placement. Year 2 focuses on advancing clinical and mental health knowledge with Contemporary Nursing units A, B, and C, Contemporary Nursing and Mental Health A and B, and Research and Evidence Based Practice. Students also complete Professional Experience Placements 2 and 3, including a mental health placement, to strengthen practical skills in real healthcare settings. In Year 3, the program emphasizes specialization and transition to professional practice through units such as Nursing in Specialty Areas, Nursing and Complex Care, Nursing for Chronic Illness and Continuing Care, and Interprofessional Practice. Students undertake Professional Experience Placement 4 and complete a major Consolidation of Nursing Practice unit worth 24 credits. Across the course, each standard unit carries 12 credits, ensuring a balanced combination of academic study and extensive clinical training to prepare graduates for registered nursing practice.
