COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Laws (Graduate Entry) at Victoria University is a three-year accelerated law degree designed for graduates who already hold a bachelor’s qualification in another field. The program requires completion of 288 credit points, including 228 credit points of core law studies and 60 credit points of law electives. In the first year, students build a strong legal foundation through subjects such as the Australian legal system, contracts, torts, criminal law, criminal investigation, legal interpretation, legal research methods, and legal writing and drafting. The second year focuses on advanced legal principles including constitutional law, corporations law, commercial law, real property law, administrative law, and equity and trusts, while also allowing students to begin elective studies in specialised legal areas. In the final year, students complete professional practice subjects such as civil procedure, evidence, ethics and professional responsibility, interviewing and advocacy, and internships in law practice, providing practical industry exposure and professional skills development. The program also offers a wide range of electives including family law, human rights law, international law, migration law, taxation law, employment law, privacy and media law, dispute resolution, and intellectual property law. Overall, the course combines academic legal training with practical experience, preparing graduates for further legal practice training and diverse careers across corporate, commercial, government, and community legal sectors.
