COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Human Nutrition is a 288 credit point program designed to provide students with strong scientific knowledge and practical skills in nutrition, food science, and health. In the first year, students build a solid foundation through core subjects such as human physiology, chemistry, indigenous health and wellbeing, introduction to human nutrition and food, food components, and communication skills. These units help students understand how the human body works and how food and nutrients support health and development. In the core phase of the degree, students move into more advanced topics including medical microbiology and immunity, properties of food, diet and disease, family health and nutrition across the lifespan, and community and public health nutrition. They also develop research and analytical skills through dedicated research methods and a final research project. The program emphasizes both theoretical understanding and practical application in real-world health contexts. In addition, students complete two minors, choosing from Public Health Nutrition, Biomedical Nutrition, or Exercise and Nutrition, allowing them to specialise according to their career interests. These minors help broaden employment opportunities in clinical nutrition, community health, sports nutrition, and biomedical fields. Overall, the course prepares graduates for professional roles in nutrition, health promotion, and research, as well as further postgraduate study in health-related disciplines.
