COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Civil Engineering structure as listed) at Victoria University is a 336-credit-point program with an additional 48-credit-point capstone component and a professional engineering experience unit. The course is designed to build strong foundations in mathematics, physics, computing, and engineering principles before progressing into advanced electrical and electronic systems. In the first year, students study core subjects such as Introduction to Engineering, Engineering Computational Methods, Engineering Dynamics, Principles of Structural Mechanics, Applied and Quantitative Methods in Engineering, Fundamentals of Electrical Systems, Thermodynamics for Engineers, and Sustainable Engineering Design and Innovation. In the second year, learning advances into Electrical Circuits, Computer Programming for Electrical Engineers, Telecommunications, Analogue Electronics, Linear Systems with MATLAB Applications, and Engineering Design and Practice units, alongside power systems topics. The third year focuses on specialised areas including Electrical Machines, Digital Systems, Control Systems, Embedded Systems, Signal Processing, and Project Management, supported by research methods and professional engineering experience. In the final year, students engage in advanced topics such as Electrical Power Systems Analysis and Operation, Mobile Networks and Communications, Sustainable Energy Systems, Computational Heat and Fluid Flows, and Advanced Engineering Design. The program also includes two research project units, preparing graduates for industry roles in energy, communications, automation, and advanced engineering systems.
