COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Civil Engineering) is a structured 384 credit point program designed to develop strong technical, analytical, and professional skills for careers in infrastructure and construction. The course consists of 336 credit points of core studies and 48 credit points of capstone studies, along with engineering professional experience integrated into the degree. In the first year, students build a foundation in engineering principles through subjects such as engineering computational methods, dynamics, structural mechanics, thermodynamics, electrical systems, and sustainable engineering design. In the second year, learning becomes more specialised with subjects including mechanics of materials, structural analysis and design, sustainable construction practices, geotechnical engineering, geomechanics, surveying, and integrated design projects that apply theory to real-world engineering problems. The third year focuses on core civil engineering disciplines such as fluid mechanics, hydraulics, hydrology, water resources, highway systems, transport engineering, and environmental engineering, supported by advanced integrated design projects. In the final year, students complete major capstone projects and a research project that allows them to solve complex engineering challenges independently. Throughout the program, students develop practical design, problem-solving, and project management skills essential for the profession. Overall, the degree prepares graduates for careers in infrastructure development, transportation systems, water resource management, environmental engineering, and construction industries, equipping them with both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience required for professional civil engineering practice.
