COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Education (P–12) at Victoria University is a 384-credit-point program designed to qualify students to teach across both primary and secondary school levels. The course consists of core studies, major studies, and either a minor or elective pathway, allowing flexibility in specialisation. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge in education through subjects such as ICT in education, literacy development, STEM education, human development, creativity and the arts, and community-focused learning. The second year introduces core teaching skills including primary mathematics, science education, reading approaches, and student engagement strategies, alongside secondary discipline specialisation units and optional minors or electives. In the third year, students focus on advanced pedagogy, assessment and reporting, and curriculum development for both junior and senior secondary levels, while continuing their chosen teaching specialisation. The final year emphasises professional practice, including teaching practicums, literacy across the continuum, curriculum implementation, and entering the teaching profession, supported by advanced curriculum and pedagogy units in the chosen major. Students must complete at least 80 days of supervised professional experience and meet LANTITE requirements to progress and graduate. The program offers a wide range of teaching majors and minors, including subjects such as mathematics, science, English, psychology, health, and outdoor education, preparing graduates for versatile careers in primary and secondary education with strong classroom readiness and professional accreditation.
