COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Data Science at Victoria University consists of 288 credit points of core units designed to build strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills across data science and information technology. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge in programming, web development, computer networks, database systems, operating systems, cyber security, and project management. The second year introduces specialised data science topics, including data science methods, quantitative analysis, machine learning, data mining, big data, and object-oriented programming supported by generative AI tools. Students also study human-centred design, software engineering with structured prompting, and professional ethics, ensuring both technical and professional development. In the final year, the course focuses on advanced and industry-relevant applications such as predictive analysis, business data analytics, AI-assisted application development, cyber security analytics, advanced data science, and AI-enhanced mobile ecosystems. Students complete two capstone projects that allow them to apply theoretical knowledge to practical, real-world data challenges and industry scenarios. The curriculum combines hands-on learning with modern AI-driven technologies to prepare graduates for careers in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, business analytics, and software development.
