COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Criminology/Bachelor of Psychological Studies at Victoria University is a four-year integrated double degree designed to build expertise in both criminal justice and human behaviour. The course includes 384 credit points of core study, including psychology electives, and is structured progressively across four years. In the first year, students study foundational subjects in psychology and criminology such as Psychology 1A and 1B, introduction to criminology, policing and offending, crime and inequality, the Australian legal system, interpersonal communication, and foundations of psychological research. In the second year, students deepen their knowledge through subjects like developmental psychology, criminal law, legal research methods, criminal investigation, and advanced psychology units including Psychology 2A and 2B, along with research methods in psychology. The third year focuses on applied learning and research, including fieldwork placement, criminological theory, corporate crime, legal history, and both qualitative and quantitative research methods, along with psychology electives. In the final year, students complete advanced psychology subjects such as clinical aspects, research methods, and psychological theory, alongside criminology units including digital criminology, victims and justice, contemporary issues, and a major research project. Overall, the program combines theory, research, and practical field experience to prepare graduates for careers in psychology, criminology, justice services, research, and community support roles.
