COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) is a structured four-year degree requiring completion of 384 credit points, combining foundational building knowledge, advanced construction studies, and a specialised minor in either Building Compliance or Quantity Surveying. In the first year, students build essential technical and communication skills through core subjects such as introduction to architectural design, maths for builders, structural mechanics, structural principles in construction, fundamentals of building construction, building science, measurement and estimating, and built environment communication. In the second year, the focus shifts to applied construction knowledge with units like building development and compliance, building contract documentation, building materials, building systems and services, risk and safety management, and building and construction studies, along with minor-related subjects. The third year develops advanced professional capabilities through subjects including construction economics, site operations, high-rise development and compliance, construction surveying, project management practice, estimating, construction law, and research principles. The final year is dedicated to high-level industry preparation with advanced construction management, procurement management, cost planning and control, construction management practice, and two major built environment project units that simulate real industry scenarios. Students also complete additional minor studies in their chosen specialisation. Overall, the program prepares graduates for leadership roles in construction planning, cost management, site supervision, procurement, and project delivery within residential, commercial, and industrial construction sectors.
