COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Victoria University is a 288-credit-point degree designed to build strong scientific foundations while allowing students to specialise through majors and minors. The course is structured into 96 credit points of First Year Core studies, 96 credit points of a chosen Major, and either a second Major or a Minor sequence (also 96 credit points), giving students flexibility to tailor their study pathway. In the first year, students complete core units that introduce essential biomedical knowledge, including Biological Systems, Mathematics and Statistics for Biomedicine, Functional Anatomy of the Trunk and Limbs, Human Physiology 1 and 2, and foundational Chemistry 1A and 1B. These subjects establish a strong base in anatomy, physiology, and chemical sciences. In later study, students specialise through majors such as Human Physiology or Molecular Cell Biology, developing deeper expertise in how the human body functions at cellular and system levels. Alternatively, students may choose minors like Anatomy & Integrated Physiology, Molecular Cell Biology, or Applied Research to complement their main area of study. The program is designed to integrate theoretical knowledge with analytical and laboratory-based skills, preparing students for careers in biomedical research, healthcare-related industries, or further postgraduate study in medicine and allied health fields. Overall, it provides both breadth and depth in biomedical sciences with flexible academic pathways.
