COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Biomedical and Exercise Science at Victoria University is a 288 credit point program designed to build strong scientific, clinical, and exercise-based knowledge across human health and performance. The course is structured into 96 credit points of first-year core studies followed by 192 credit points of advanced core studies. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge in biomechanics, functional anatomy of the trunk and limbs, human physiology, chemistry, and exercise and sport psychology, which together build a strong base in human biological and movement sciences. In the second year, learning becomes more applied, with subjects such as exercise interventions for healthy populations, rehabilitation anatomy, pathophysiology, medical biochemistry, sports biomechanics, motor learning, and cardiorespiratory physiology. The third year focuses on advanced and professional-level study, including advanced exercise physiology, nerve and muscle physiology, exercise biochemistry, exercise prescription, injury management, and motor control. Students also complete research-focused units such as research methods and an independent research project, allowing them to develop analytical and investigative skills. Overall, the program integrates biomedical science with exercise science to prepare graduates for careers in health, rehabilitation, sport science, and clinical support roles, as well as providing a strong foundation for postgraduate study in allied health and medical-related fields.
