COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts at Victoria University is a flexible 288 credit point program designed to allow students to build a personalised study pathway based on their interests and career goals. The degree includes 96 credit points of core studies that develop foundational skills in critical thinking, communication, and humanities disciplines. Students then complete 96 credit points of major studies from an approved list, including capstone units that integrate and apply learning to real-world contexts. The remaining 96 credit points offer multiple flexible pathways, allowing students to tailor their degree further. Option A allows students to complete a second major along with elective units at second or third-year level. Option B enables students to study two minors in depth. Option C combines one minor with additional elective units, while Option D allows a combination of a minor, electives from majors or minors, and general university electives at an advanced level. This flexible structure helps students combine different fields such as communication, sociology, history, psychology, digital media, or writing to suit their academic and professional goals. Students planning to major in Psychology follow a slightly different first-year structure, replacing certain core humanities units with introductory psychology subjects. Overall, the program is designed to develop adaptable graduates with strong analytical, communication, and critical thinking skills suited for a wide range of careers in media, education, community services, government, and cultural industries.
