COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Psychology (Clinical) is a 96-credit-point AQF Level 9 postgraduate coursework degree designed to prepare students for professional registration as psychologists in Australia and progression toward clinical endorsement. The program is structured over two full-time years, with 48 credit points completed in Year 1 and 48 credit points in Year 2. In Year 1, students focus on developing advanced foundational knowledge in clinical psychology, including psychological assessment, diagnosis, evidence-based interventions, psychopathology, and research methods. Learning is supported through lectures, seminars, case-based learning, role plays, and reflective practice activities that help build essential clinical competencies in a supervised and structured environment. Students also begin engaging with research training, including ethics, study design, and data analysis. In Year 2, the program shifts toward more advanced clinical practice and integration of skills, with increased emphasis on complex case formulation, therapeutic interventions, and professional practice in real-world settings. A major component of the second year is supervised clinical placement, contributing to a minimum of 1000 hours of practical experience across diverse mental health settings, allowing students to apply theory in practice under professional supervision. Students also complete a significant clinical research project, developing a thesis or publishable research paper under academic guidance.
