COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Information Technology with a specialisation in Information Design and Analysis at the University of Wollongong is a 96-credit-point postgraduate program designed to develop advanced skills in information management, data analysis, and decision-support systems. The program includes 48 credit points of core subjects that provide a strong foundation in essential IT areas such as programming, data structures, database management systems, system analysis, project management, web development, strategic network design, and security, ethics, and professionalism. Students also complete 18 credit points in the Information Design and Analysis specialisation (MAJ44280), which focuses on the effective design, analysis, and presentation of information to support business and organisational decision-making. This specialisation develops expertise in information visualisation, data interpretation, interactive system design, and user-focused communication of complex information. Students learn how to transform large volumes of data into meaningful insights that are accessible and easy for users to understand. The remaining credit points are selected from approved graduate IT subjects, providing flexibility to tailor the degree according to individual career goals and interests.
