COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science (EIS) with a major in Medical and Radiation Physics is a 144 credit point undergraduate degree designed to provide students with a strong foundation in physics and its applications in medicine and healthcare. The program is structured over three years, with students completing a combination of core science subjects and specialised medical physics units. In the first year, students follow an enabling pathway that builds essential knowledge in physics and mathematics, preparing them for more advanced study. In the second year, students progress to intermediate-level subjects, including core physics topics and foundational medical physics concepts. In the third year, students undertake advanced study and apply their knowledge to real-world medical and radiation physics problems, often through practical and applied learning experiences. The curriculum is supported by common core subjects shared across science majors, ensuring students develop strong analytical, mathematical, and experimental skills. The Medical and Radiation Physics major focuses on understanding how ionising and non-ionising radiation is used in medical diagnosis and treatment. Students learn about radiation therapy, medical imaging techniques, and the interaction of radiation with human tissue.
