COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) is a 4-year undergraduate degree consisting of 92 credit points in the first year and 48 credit points in each of the following three years, designed to provide advanced training in the scientific study of human behaviour. In the first year, students complete foundational psychology subjects such as critical thinking and communication skills, foundations of psychology, research methods, and statistics, along with elective options from areas like geography, biology, or social sciences to broaden their understanding. In the second year, students study core psychological areas including personality, biological psychology, cognition, developmental and social psychology, psychopathology, and quantitative methods, while also taking elective subjects. In the third year, students focus on advanced psychology topics such as assessment and intervention, history and philosophy of psychology, applied psychology, and design and analysis, along with specialised electives in areas like cognition, perception, forensic psychology, neuroscience, and psychophysiology. Students are required to include at least one advanced elective from a specified set of psychology subjects. The fourth year is the Honours program, which is highly research-focused and includes an empirical thesis along with advanced training in theory, data analysis, psychological assessment, and intervention. Overall, the degree develops strong research, analytical, and practical skills, preparing graduates for professional psychology pathways and further postgraduate training.
