COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Psychological Science (Philosophy) is a 144 credit point undergraduate degree delivered over three years at the Wollongong campus, designed to integrate the scientific study of human behaviour with advanced philosophical thinking and critical analysis. The program is structured so that students complete 48 credit points per year across first, second, and third year, ensuring steady progression in psychological knowledge and analytical skills. In the first year, students study core psychology subjects including cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, social psychology, biological psychology, and research methods, which provide a strong scientific foundation for understanding human behaviour. In the second year, students deepen their psychological understanding and begin to explore more complex applications of theory, research, and behavioural analysis. In the third year, students complete advanced psychology subjects alongside the Philosophy major (MAJ40183), which is worth 48 credit points and focuses on critical thinking, logic, ethics, epistemology, political philosophy, and the analysis of fundamental questions about knowledge, existence, and society. The philosophy component encourages students to examine assumptions, evaluate arguments, and engage with diverse perspectives on human thought and behaviour. Overall, the degree develops strong analytical, research, reasoning, and communication skills, preparing graduates for careers in education, research, law, public policy, social services, and other fields that require deep critical thinking and the ability to understand complex human and social issues.
