COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Psychological Science is a 144 credit point undergraduate degree delivered over three years at the Wollongong campus, designed to provide a strong foundation in the scientific study of human behaviour. The program is structured so that students complete 48 credit points per year across first, second, and third year, ensuring a steady development of psychological knowledge, research skills, and critical thinking abilities. All students complete core psychology requirements, which cover key areas such as cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, social psychology, and biological psychology, along with training in research methods and statistical analysis. These core subjects provide an essential understanding of how humans think, feel, and behave. In addition to psychology core studies, students may choose an approved major such as Criminology (MAJ40159), which accounts for 48 credit points. The criminology major explores crime, justice systems, and social responses to criminal behaviour, offering an interdisciplinary perspective on why crime occurs and how societies address it. Students may also have the option to select language majors from the Bachelor of Arts, further broadening their academic experience. Overall, the degree equips graduates with strong analytical, research, and communication skills, preparing them for careers in psychology-related fields, criminal justice, social services, policy, research, and further postgraduate study in psychology or criminology.
