COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics (Honours) is a four-year undergraduate degree consisting of a total of 192 credit points, with 48 credit points completed in each year of study. The program is designed to provide a strong foundation in nutrition science and progressively build professional skills in dietetics and clinical practice. In the first year, students study core scientific subjects such as biology, chemistry, biochemistry, anatomy, and physiology, which provide essential knowledge of how the human body functions and how nutrition affects health. In the second year, students move into more specialised studies including food science, microbiology, metabolism, and introductory nutrition and dietetics practice, along with developing analytical and laboratory skills. The third year focuses on advanced topics such as clinical dietetics, community and public health nutrition, food service systems management, and evidence-based practice, while also involving supervised practical learning in healthcare and community settings. The final year is an Honours year that includes advanced coursework and a research thesis, allowing students to investigate a specific area of nutrition science in depth and contribute to evidence-based knowledge. Throughout the degree, practical placements in hospitals, community health centres, and industry settings provide hands-on experience. This structured progression prepares graduates for professional accreditation as dietitians and careers in healthcare, public health, research, and the food industry.
