COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Nursing is a three-year undergraduate degree consisting of a total of 144 credit points, with 48 credit points completed in each year of study. The program is structured to progressively develop students into competent and confident registered nurses through a combination of academic learning and clinical practice. In the first year, students are introduced to foundational concepts in human biology, anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and basic nursing principles, along with introductory health sciences and professional practice standards. The second year builds on this foundation by focusing on more advanced nursing knowledge, including medical-surgical nursing, pharmacology, mental health nursing, community health, and evidence-based practice, while also strengthening clinical reasoning and decision-making skills. The third and final year consolidates learning through advanced nursing subjects, leadership in healthcare, complex patient care, and preparation for professional practice as a registered nurse. Students also undertake extensive clinical placements in hospitals, aged care facilities, and community health settings, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world environments under supervision. Throughout the degree, emphasis is placed on patient-centred care, communication, ethics, and cultural safety. The structured 48 credit points per year ensure steady academic progression and prepare graduates for registration and employment in a wide range of healthcare settings within the nursing profession.
