COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Medical Biotechnology (Honours) is a four-year undergraduate degree comprising a total of 192 credit points, with 48 credit points completed each year. The program is structured to progressively develop students’ knowledge and skills in biotechnology, medical science, and research. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in core scientific disciplines, including biology, chemistry, genetics, anatomy, physiology, and statistics. The second year expands on these fundamentals with more advanced study in molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, and cell biology, while introducing laboratory techniques and research methods. During the third year, students explore specialised areas of biotechnology, such as bioinformatics, medical research, biotechnology applications, and emerging technologies that contribute to healthcare innovation and disease treatment. The final year focuses on advanced biotechnology concepts and honours-level study, providing opportunities to undertake research projects, develop critical thinking skills, and gain practical experience in scientific investigation. Throughout the degree, students engage in laboratory-based learning and hands-on training using modern scientific equipment and facilities, enabling them to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges. The balanced distribution of credit points across all four years ensures a comprehensive and progressive learning experience that prepares graduates for careers in biotechnology, medical research, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, and related scientific industries.
